Here's some inspirational grassroots, the-children-are-our-future action for you:
Two seniors at the Germantown Friends School in Philly saw Hotel Rwanda and decided that "never again" might mean something if they took action to have that be the case. So they organized an event that was supposed to raise $5,000 for Mercy Corps and instead ended up raising $17,000.
Two senior women, Katie Savin and Claire Wagner, were the lead organizers of the effort but they had the support of the Human Rights Club at GFS as well as the help of other students and faculty members.
If you think that there is nothing you can do about Darfur, you are wrong.
